My Love for Travel

Travel has been my passion since my first trip abroad to Germany in 2019. The excitement of discovering new places, savoring exotic foods, learning about the rich history, and meeting people from all over the world is an indescribable feeling.

I’ve learned to embrace spontaneity and overcome challenges, which is essential for any solo traveler. There is a wonderful sense of empowerment that comes with navigating unfamiliar streets alone. Whether I find a hidden gem of a café or get lost in a bustling market, every experience adds to my adventure.

I understand the concerns about traveling alone, but let me assure you: the freedom and self-discovery that solo travel offers are worth it and will leave you with lasting memories. In this blog, I will share practical tips and insights that will help make your adventures smoother and more enjoyable.

Paris, France one of my favorite cities in Europe

My Journey So Far

In 2023 I had the opportunity to live in Vienna, Austria, and explore nearby countries like Germany, Czech Republic, France, Hungary, Italy, Slovakia, Spain, and the UK. From the stunning landscapes of the Austrian Alps to the rich history of Italy, each destination has had a significant impact on me.

Some memorable moments include hiking the active volcano Mount Etna in Sicily, relaxing on the Spanish beaches of Valencia, and learning about British history at the Tower of London. These experiences have deeply connected me to different cultures and people.

Cinque Terre — a coastal Italian city I had the chance to explore with some friends from my hometown!

Travel has helped me grow personally and build connections with fellow travelers and locals alike. I believe that travel is not just about visiting new places; it’s about bringing the world together.

Why Asia?

As I prepare for my solo trip across Asia, anticipation fills me. Exploring Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam has been a trip that I’ve been thinking about for almost a year now, and I always say that travel waits for nobody – it’s now or never! I can’t wait to try the delicious street food in Thailand, to see the spectacular temples of Angkor Wat in Cambodia, and so much more.

Vietnam boasts stunning landscapes like Ha Long Bay and a rich history, including the Cu Chi Tunnels from the Vietnam War, which I will be exploring at the beginning of Febuary. In Laos, the breathtaking waterfalls at Kuang Si are a must-see, showcasing nature in its purest form.

Preparing for My Journey

As I prepare for my solo backpacking adventure, I find that planning and organization are key. Here are a few essentials for young female travelers like me:

  1. Smart Packing: A comfortable, lightweight backpack is crucial. Look for one with good support and compartments to keep items organized.
  2. Safety First: A reliable travel insurance policy is also essential. Trust your instincts; being cautious doesn’t mean you can’t have fun! Always book accommodations with positive reviews. As a solo female traveller you can always find affordable hostles with female only rooms. Travel groups are also great! For my upcoming trip I will be travelling with G Adventures, and in the past I have traveled with EF Tours.
  3. Document Your Journey: Keeping a travel journal allows me to capture my thoughts, experiences, and unforgettable moments. I am a big time journaler and I take a lot of photos so creating a scrapbook is a great way to share your travels with your friends!

These tips are just a starting point! I will go into more detail in my upcoming posts, so keep an eye out.
